IN OTHER NEWS (November 28st, 2016 December 12th 2016):
I got nothing. Animation will be available on Wednesday. It'll be good! I promise!

Hey all! Welp...

Was the wait worth it? For you guys (If I were you, and not the author), I'd say "no."  The story grinded to a halt for a few weeks over 10 seconds of animation that probably could have been tackled a different way. you'd be forgiven for thinking the strip randomly died, especially with no explanation.

Was it worth it for me, as a creator? Absolutely.  I got to try out an animation technique (a rotating perspective in 2D, where backgrounds are hell if you have to redraw them, but move them slightly) I'd never properly attempted before, and it came out looking relatively decent. I'd never find an opportunity to test out something like this on my own, and that's one of the mission goals for the Crimson Fly's existence: to become a better artist through working on an ongoing project.

Was it worth it? Absolutely. I have one more tool in my toolbox to make this comic even better, and I know my limits stretch even further than I thought they did.  Granted, I also learned that I need to start allocating time towards R&D rather than learning on the fly, but I think that payoff was worth the cost.

Will this happen again in the future? Probably, though probably not with as much frequency. Not every strip has to be an animation spectacle, after all.  But I will do my best to be more "open" about when they occur (maybe posting WIP versions while I work so you guys aren't entirely in the dark?).  If you're still reading (both this comic and the post): Thank you for your patience, and I'll see you next week.

IN OTHER NEWS (November 21st, 2016):
We're almost done with this story; two/three more strips left! After that, I'm done for the rest of the year.  I want to start making that a habit; taking a one-month break between stories so I can do some behind-the-scenes cleanup (compiling for video/print/app/etc, setting up patreon/email lists, all that jazz). That being said, I'm probably going to be done some time into December, so as tempting as it would be to simply "stop" after Thanksgiving, we're not going to do that; I'm GOING to finish out this story and then we'll take a break, and then move into Issue #6: "The Easy Job."

And then it finally happened: SkipperWing was late (barring planned hiatuses/breaks).  Hey guys. I'm really sorry.  Last week hit me really hard, and I didn't realize it until it was Sunday night and I STILL didn't feel like doing the thing I love most in the world. You know how they say you should know your limits and when to stop? Well, its easier to gauge from the outside looking in.  I dunno. I still don't feel 100% about anything right now. At least the year, and issue #5, for that matter are almost over.

IN OTHER NEWS (November 7th, 2016):
Woof! This is hyper late, relatively speaking (still hit the Monday deadline, but much closer than I would have liked, obviously).  That's my fault, I could/should have at least posted the static comic, but I thought I could get the animation done faster than I did. It didn't help that I added more animation/panels in (Only the throws in panels 1&7 was initially to be animated) than was strictly necessary. Still, I think the improvements made this a much more dynamic strip! What do you think?

Also, if you want to check out the Halloween pic -or any other special events, like hiatuses- go hit up the archives (at least, until I get a special page going for them!)
